ABOUT PIPI DESIGNS
david bunic and carol jackson began their object design practice pipi designs in 2003. from this time they have been passionate about the process of creating various designs in resin.
self-taught artists, partners david and carol reside in brisbane, queensland. starting with jewellery designs gave them an opportunity to learn how to work with this challenging medium, and become skilled in methods such as mould making, pouring, sanding and sculpting, and other general properties of epoxy resin.
david and carol were always fascinated with the interplay between light and resin, so in 2006, they began creating lighting pieces from a polyester resin. again, a challenging yet rewarding process, they crafted a range of design works with which they are very proud to have achieved a mix of functionality and design.
organic tonal colour and frosted, smooth texture are explored within pipi designs objects, all of which are individually hand-worked and feature an infusion of natural materials. platters and wall clocks were also created in a mulititude of colourways, again incorporating the natural theme that always provides inspiration.
pipi designs is an eclectic, ever-evolving organism, combining elements of contemporary and organic design, and as mentioned on our "gallery" page, it has changed shape once more into a cosy blend of espresso bar and display space.....named what else, but "pipi designs espresso store".
currently on display and available for sale are:
> reproduction vintage art prints from the 1920's - 30's featuring bold designs digitally printed on premium quality archival paper and framed in a clean industrial style (frames designed and created by us!).
> greeting cards by able and game. in the words of the designers, the cards are "quirky and cute rather than cliched and predictable. they feature hand-drawn designs of weird and wonderful people that are off beat and stand out from the crowd."
